SUMMARY:Second International Skal Roma Golf Challenge 2023
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 7\, 2023\, at the Golf Club Fioranello the Skal Club of Rome will hold the Second International Skal Roma Golf Challenge at the Golf Club Fioranello\, near Rome.\n\n\n\nThe Ryder Cup in 2023 could mark the definitive national and international launch of golf in Italy. According to experts\, this event will change the history of golf in Italy. \n\n\n\nThe first Ryder Cup was held in 1927\, and it was named after the tournament’s organizer\, Samuel Ryder. \n\n\n\nSince then\, the best 12 European and American golfers have met on alternating continents every two years. There are no monetary prizes\, but the game is played solely for the sake of honour and prestige. \n\n\n\nThe most recent edition\, held in France in 2018\, drew over 270\,000 spectators and was broadcast live to over 600 million homes across more than 160 countries. \n\n\n\nThe Ryder Cup will be held in Rome this year at the Golf Club Marco Simone from Friday\, September 29 to Sunday\, October 1\, 2023. 50\,000 spectators from all over the world are expected each day. It should be noted that this is the most prestigious international golf competition\, ranked third in importance and popularity after the Olympics and the World Cup. \n\n\n\nThe Skal of Rome\, which has been promoting golf in the capital for many years\, couldn’t help but support this great event by re-proposing the international Skal golf competition that was so successful last year. \n\n\n\nTo that end\, the Skal Club of Rome has announced the “Second International Skal Roma Golf Challenge 2023” which will be held on Saturday\, October 7\, 2023\, at the Golf Club Fioranello. \n\n\n\nThe Skal golf competition has been added immediately after the Ryder Cup in the hopes that Skalleagues who have come to Rome to participate in the aforementioned event will extend their vacation by a few days to compete in the international golf competition organized by the Skal of Rome. \n\n\n\nMore information\, including organizational and logistical ideas\, will be communicated shortly. \n\n\n\nContacts for more information: \n\n\n\nSk. SUMMARY:Forecast on 2023 summer tourism - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Raffaele Pasquini\, marketing manager of Rome Airport\, will share with us the scheduling forecasted for next summer. \n\n\n\nAre we back to pre-Covid time volumes? \n\n\n\nWhat is changing? \n\n\n\nReal data will be discussed and it will be an excellent tool for our business! \n\n\n\nAir transport has undergone significant changes over the past five years\, driven by a combination of technological advancements\, shifting consumer preferences\, and global events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are some key trends that have emerged in air transport over the past five years\, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and other sources: \n\n\n\n\nGrowing demand for air travel: Despite occasional dips in demand due to factors such as the pandemic and geopolitical tensions\, air travel has continued to grow steadily over the past five years. In 2019\, global passenger traffic reached 4.5 billion\, up from 3.8 billion in 2016 (IATA).\n\n\n\nThe emergence of low-cost carriers: Low-cost carriers (LCCs) have continued to gain market share over the past five years\, with some of the biggest players such as Ryanair and Southwest Airlines experiencing significant growth. In 2019\, LCCs accounted for 28% of global air traffic\, up from 22% in 2014 (CAPA).\n\n\n\nTechnological advancements: The past five years have seen significant technological advancements in air transport\, with airlines and airports investing in everything from biometric scanning to autonomous baggage handling. According to a report by the Air Transport Action Group\, the aviation industry invested $170 billion in technology in 2019 alone.\n\n\n\nEnvironmental concerns: The aviation industry has faced increasing pressure to address its environmental impact over the past five years\, with concerns around carbon emissions and noise pollution. According to the IATA\, the industry has committed to achieving carbon-neutral growth from 2020 and reducing net carbon emissions to half of 2005 levels by 2050.\n\n\n\nImpact of COVID-19: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on air transport\, with global passenger traffic dropping by 66% in 2020 compared to 2019 (IATA). While there are signs of a gradual recovery in 2021\, the pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of the aviation industry and the need for greater resilience.\n\n\n\n\nIn conclusion\, air transport has undergone significant changes over the past five years\, with growth in demand\, the emergence of low-cost carriers\, technological advancements\, environmental concerns\, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic all shaping the industry. As air transport continues to evolve\, it will be important for airlines and airports to stay abreast of these trends and adapt their strategies accordingly to remain competitive and sustainable. \n\n\n\nZoom link: \n\n\n\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/86220971006?pwd=NzQzY0wrak80L2Nhb2JNRHpiQmJvZz09

SUMMARY:Closed Number of tourists in overcrowded destinations - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Save the date \n\n\n\nJosep Ejarque\, a European expert on tourism\, will speak about a very controversial topic: creating a closed number to enter some tourist destinations could be the right solution against overbooking and to increase sustainable tourism. \n\n\n\nWhat are the main pros and cons? \n\n\n\nTourism can bring numerous benefits to a destination\, such as economic growth and cultural exchange. However\, when tourism becomes excessive\, it can have detrimental effects on the environment\, local communities\, and the overall quality of life in the destination. As such\, limiting the number of tourists in overcrowded destinations has become a pressing issue. \n\n\n\nOne of the main challenges in limiting the number of tourists is finding a balance between preserving the destination’s natural and cultural assets and meeting the demands of the tourism industry. The first step towards achieving this balance is to conduct a thorough analysis of the destination’s carrying capacity – the maximum number of visitors that the destination can sustain without causing damage to its natural and cultural resources. This analysis should take into account factors such as infrastructure\, environmental impact\, and community capacity. \n\n\n\nOnce the carrying capacity has been determined\, policymakers can develop and implement strategies to limit the number of tourists to a sustainable level. For example\, measures such as limiting the number of flights or cruise ships that can enter the destination\, setting daily or seasonal visitor quotas\, and charging higher fees for access to sensitive areas can help manage the flow of tourists. \n\n\n\nIn addition\, promoting alternative\, less crowded destinations can help redistribute the flow of visitors and alleviate the pressure on overcrowded destinations. This can be done through marketing campaigns that highlight the unique attractions and experiences of lesser-known destinations\, as well as offering incentives to tour operators and travel agencies that promote these destinations. \n\n\n\nLimiting the number of tourists in overcrowded destinations can have significant benefits for both the destination and the visitors. By reducing the negative impact of tourism\, the destination can preserve its natural and cultural resources for future generations\, while visitors can enjoy a more authentic and meaningful travel experience. However\, achieving this goal requires a concerted effort from all stakeholders\, including policymakers\, the tourism industry\, and tourists themselves. \n\n\n\nThe Zoom connection link\n\n\n\nSkal Europe Academy – “Close number in touristic Municipalities” Josep EjarqueTime: 3 April 2023 06:00 PM Amsterdam\, Berlin\, Rome\, Stockholm\, Wien \n\n\n\nZoom meeting link:https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87886206697?pwd=bm9wd2QrVHVUSHJtaDlvNUxNZzJMQT09 \n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 878 8620 6697Passcode: 670756

SUMMARY:European Club Presidents February Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Skal Europe and the European clubs want to present great activities for cooperation and making new potential members interested to join Skal. \n\n\n\nThe Young Skal Professionals is a new membership category for employees in our enterprises whom we want to foster for their next steps on the career ladder. Tito Livio Mongelli\, Georgeta Grecu\, Zhang Zhang from Monaco\, and young professionals are working on the concept and it will be presented at the meeting. \n\n\n\nThe Skal Academy is a great project created by Skal Italy. We invite you to investigate the actual draft programme and to distribute it to interested young people. The idea of the programme is not only to open it for Skal members only but especially for young people who are going to start a professional career. They should see the benefits of working in the tourism and hospitality industry. \n\n\n\nSustainability is a challenge for the industry and not just because of strict regulations. There are very motivated projects going on and great solutions already realised. European enterprises shall have the opportunity to show their competence to the public and create an even better awareness of the many different aspects of this relevant and challenging field. We had a successful European Sustainability Award already in 2021 and are looking forward to honouring new award winners in the next European General Assembly. \n\n\n\nEuropean Golf Challenges program: Golf is a strong point in traditional Skal activities and it attracts many members to participate\, mostly with spouses. The calendar now comprises the Skal Rome Golf Challenge and the Alpine Skal Golf Challenge. Whatever golf event organized by a Skal Club within Europe qualifies to participate. Clubs with golf activities can have their programs published and promoted\, if open to other members. \n\n\n\nFinally\, we want to invite the European clubs to tender for the next European General Assembly which should be in October/early November 2023. It gives the clubs and the cities a great opportunity to present themselves and is a perfect platform for creating business among friends too.To discuss these points and topics the clubs want to bring to our awareness we invite all European Club Presidents and/or Representatives to a virtual meeting. \n\n\n\nWhen: 20 Feb 2023 06:00 PM Roma (CET) \n\n\n\nZoom meeting linkhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/84849316563?pwd=ZkMreVFneUlQYXNsWWhHcWRMM1lpZz09 \n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 848 4931 6563Passcode: 628948

SUMMARY:TravelExpo 2022 - Palermo
DESCRIPTION:Travelexpo will return in September for the third consecutive year. The XXIV edition of the Global Tourism Exchange\, scheduled from 23 to 25 September 2022\, will always take place in the metropolitan area of Palermo and will be the point of arrival and departure of an overall relaunch action that concerns both public and private tour operators operating in outgoing and incoming. The usual is the formula and the location of the event which\, however\, during the year will be supplemented by a series of actions to support marketing and integrated communication\, aimed at both trade and consumer. \n\n\n\n“A coherent and innovative choice to continue to fight the pandemic on a social and economic level – explains Toti Piscopo\, President of Skal Palermo and administrator of Logos srl comunicazione e immagine\, the company that organizes the event – but at the same time strategic to face this virus that\, even in this year of passion\, will continue to mark our agenda. Passion is understood not only as a feeling of suffering but also as intense enthusiasm and desire. Therefore\, to support companies\, as well as inform them\, new commercial\, modular and flexible formulas have been envisaged\, ideal for stimulating\, but also reassuring\, the end customer”. \n\n\n\nAnd in fact\, Travelexpo will be preceded by a series of non-standardized co-marketing initiatives that will animate targeted appointments for the customer/traveller as well as workshops\, seminars\, and B2B meetings dedicated to the travel agency market. Another objective is to encourage the lengthening of seasonality\, through joint and integrated actions between workshops and talks via the web\, modular with respect to the specific needs of institutional bodies and companies\, in a logic of strategic co-marketing to obtain a correct relationship between cost and benefits\, useful for monitoring and supporting the national market.
