Skal Turku 50 Years

Dear Skålleague,
Our tourism colleagues in Turku lived through historic times 50 years ago. After all, they had just founded Skål International Turku, an association of tourism professionals in South-West Finland.
Our activities have continued uninterrupted since then and many Skål members remember our peak performance so far in September 2011, when we organized the organisation’s 73th World Congress and attracted more than 600 delegates from all over the world to Turku and the Archipelago.
The Club is active and we have also been involved in Skål’s international activities. In recent years, Turku has provided the organization with a World President as well as the President of the International Council and later a member of the Executive Board. We have done almost miraculous things for our size and now it is time to celebrate together with our members, Skålleagues around Europe as well as partners from 6 to 8 October 2023.
The celebration weekend will be full of interesting events and encounters in the spirit of the 70s.
On Friday, we will kick off with a Get-together party at “Vinoteekki”, a private wine club owned by our President, Ilkka Joukanen.
Saturday will be the main day with a high-quality tourism seminar (in Finnish) at the Forum Marinum and a guided walking tour and visit to the Forum Marinum Maritime Center for our international guests.
The day will be crowned with a Gala Dinner at the legendary Ruissalo Spa in the spirit and with a menu from 1973.
