Skål Europe Board Meeting Sets Strategic Direction for 2026

On 16 January 2026, the Skål Europe Board held its first meeting of the year, marking the start of a new cycle of initiatives aimed at strengthening member value, visibility, and impact across Europe.

The discussion focused on how Skål Europe can best support clubs and members in a fast-changing tourism environment, while remaining firmly anchored in Skål’s core values: friendship, professionalism, sustainability, and global collaboration.

A Clear Focus on Value for Members

Board members reaffirmed that Skål Europe’s role is to create tangible value for clubs and individual members by fostering meaningful connections, sharing knowledge, and encouraging innovation. Particular emphasis was placed on improving communication, ensuring better promotion of activities, and designing initiatives that respond to real needs within the Skål network.

To achieve this, the Board highlighted the importance of planning events and initiatives well in advance, enabling stronger participation and broader European reach.

Sustainability and Regenerative Tourism at the Core

Sustainability remains a central pillar of Skål Europe’s strategy. The Board confirmed its commitment to promoting Regenerative Tourism—tourism that not only minimises negative impacts but actively contributes to environmental, social, and economic regeneration.

Planned actions for 2026 include:

  • Educational webinars and collaborations with universities through the Skål Europe Academy
  • Sharing best practices from European clubs
  • Strengthening links between sustainability, innovation, and professional development

These initiatives aim to position Skål Europe as a constructive voice in shaping the future of responsible tourism.

Strengthening Europe’s Voice and Visibility

The meeting also underlined the importance of reinforcing Skål Europe’s visibility and credibility at the European level. This includes closer engagement with institutional partners, improved storytelling through digital channels, and more active participation by Board members and clubs in sharing Skål Europe content.

A coordinated communication approach will help showcase the diversity, expertise, and dynamism of Skål clubs across Europe.

Supporting Membership Growth and New Clubs

Membership development remains a priority. The Board acknowledged the need to revitalise existing clubs and support the creation of new ones, particularly in regions where Skål’s presence has declined over time.

In this context, the Board welcomed updates on club development efforts in France, including strong interest from tourism professionals in several cities, active Skål Youth engagement, and growing visibility through media and institutional contacts.

Looking Ahead

The Board concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to collaboration, openness, and delivery. 2026 will focus on turning ideas into action, encouraging cross-border cooperation, and ensuring that Skål Europe continues to serve as a platform where members can learn, connect, and grow together.

Further updates on projects, events, and opportunities will be shared with members throughout the year.
