Skal Europe is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new recognition initiative: the Skal Europe Tourism Technology Awards, dedicated to excellence in the use of technology for innovation, sustainability, and positive impact in the tourism industry.
As the tourism sector faces rapid transformation, technology plays a critical role in shaping how we travel, connect, learn, and operate. From digital solutions that improve visitor experiences to platforms that promote sustainable practices, Skal Europe wants to recognize the pioneers who are pushing boundaries and making tourism smarter, safer, and more responsible.
What Are the Tourism Technology Awards?
These awards celebrate outstanding technological innovations developed or promoted by Skal Members that contribute to:
- Enhancing the quality, safety, or personalization of the tourism experience
- Improving operational efficiency for tourism businesses
- Promoting sustainability, accessibility, or social impact through digital tools
- Supporting education, destination management, or responsible marketing
- Enabling data-driven decision making, smart mobility, or circular economy models in tourism
Who Can Apply
The awards are open to Skal Members who:
- Have created, co-developed, or promoted a tourism-related tech solution
- Are actively involved in the project’s management, strategy, or implementation
Solutions can be in the form of:
- Platforms (e.g., booking systems, travel apps, online learning environments)
- Tools (e.g., AI-based services, CRM systems, resource optimization tools)
- Infrastructure or IoT applications (e.g., sensors, smart energy management, visitor flow control)
Start-ups, SMEs, consultants, and innovators within larger tourism companies are all welcome to apply—provided the applying individual is a Skal Member.
How to Participate

Your submission must include:
- Project Summary: A clear and structured description of the technology, what problem it solves, and how it works in practice.
- Involvement of the Skal Member: A short explanation of the candidate’s role in the project.
- Impact and Results: Quantifiable outcomes, success stories, user data, or adoption metrics.
- Visual or Interactive Materials: At least one high-quality image (JPG, 1500×1500 px minimum). Additional materials such as screenshots, videos, or demo links are welcome.
- Supporting Documentation: Any documentation that reinforces the application’s credibility and relevance.
Evaluation Criteria
All submissions will be assessed by a panel of Skal Europe Board Members and external experts in tourism and technology. Projects will be evaluated based on:
- Innovation – originality and creativity in solving tourism challenges
- Functionality – practical usability and user experience
- Impact – measurable benefits for users, clients, or the broader tourism ecosystem
- Scalability – potential for replication or growth
- Alignment with ESG Goals – contribution to environmental, social, or governance objectives
